Mackenzie Stannard
Director + Producer
Mackenzie Stannard has a passion for telling true stories that have the power to make a change in the social and political fabric of Canadian society. He got his start in media as the Peter Gzoski intern at CBC Radio. After working in production on docu-series for the likes of National Geographic and HGTV, he began freelancing as an independent producer. His first documentary film, This Ink Runs Deep, which he wrote and produced, premiered at TIFF and streamed on CBC Gem.
Over the last five years, Mack has produced three feature-length documentaries, two TV hours, and four short documentaries. These have been distributed and exhibited by ESPN, Telus, CBC, SXSW, Doc NYC, Tribecca, VIFF, and The New Yorker, among others.
Mack made his directorial debut in 2022 with a short called In a New Light, which premiered at the Whistler Film Festival. He has continued to direct, making an episode of CBC's Absolutely Canadian and he is currently in post-production for his first feature film; a Telus Original about a female olympic boxer and her battle with mental health.
Having ADHD, Mack is particularly interested in stories that empower the neurodiverse and is currently developing multiple projects on this topic.
