Mack Stannard

Director + Producer

Mack Stannard has a passion for telling true stories that have the power to make a change in the social and political fabric of Canadian society. He got his start in media as the Peter Gzoski intern at CBC Radio. After working in production on docu-series for the likes of National Geographic and HGTV, he began freelancing as an independent producer. His first documentary film, This Ink Runs Deep, which he wrote and produced, premiered at TIFF and is streaming on CBC Gem. He recently produced a feature-length documentary for ESPN and Telus Originals about Olympic snowboarder Spencer O'Brien and a short doc about Joe Buffalo which won the audience choice award at SXSW, made the Doc NYC Awards Shortlist and is showing on The New Yorker. 

 

Mack made his directorial debut with In a New Light, which premiered at the Whistler Film Festival. He is currently directing a digital series about the metaverse and web3 industries and a CBC hour about the families keeping sustainable fishing alive in British Columbia.
